6 Music Festival 2022: Cardiff
Marking the first proper return of BBC Radio 6’s weekender since the COVID-19 pandemic began, 2022’s edition of the 6 Music Festival saw the long-awaited resumption of a complete live festival programme – this time taking up residency in the Welsh capital of Cardiff.
Paying tribute to the city’s thriving music scene (that was paused at length through the pandemic), it signalled a new day for Cardiff’s live industry. Venues like St David’s Hall, The Great Hall, Y Plas and the Tramshed welcomed global names, up-and-comers and Welsh heroes representative of 6 Music’s broad and innovative sonics of choice – including Khruangbin, Father John Misty, Little Simz, IDLES, Johnny Marr, Overmono and Gruff Rhys.
To bring news of the festival’s arrival to the streets of Cardiff, we worked with the BBC to take over the city – using our drums and street-side sites all through its centre, from CUSU and the Tramshed right down to the Bay. Spotlighting the festival in both Welsh and English, it showcased the incredible line-up set to hit the city – all in bright, eye-catching colours, spreading the upcoming jubilance for all to see.
