Edinburgh International Festival 2024: Big Brochure
Welcoming the world to Edinburgh each year, the Edinburgh International Festival is an unmissable part of the city’s cultural calendar. Transcending ‘political boundaries through a global celebration of performing arts’ since 1947, the festival showcases the finest in dance, opera, music and theatre, uniting audiences for an unforgettable experience each August.
To celebrate the launch of this year’s programme – Rituals That Unite Us – we joined forces with EIF and Bright Signals to paint the town yellow, creating a giant pop-up brochure installation and a series of free performances to surprise and delight passers-by. Travelling to some of Edinburgh’s most iconic locations, our ‘Big Brochure’ opened to reveal world-class performers; contemporary folk band Breabach at the festival hub on Castle Hill, Scottish Ballet Youth Exchange at St Andrew’s Square, soprano Emma Morwood at St James Quarter, and festival director Nicola Benedetti at Usher Hall, who played a short excerpt of The Lark Ascending on her violin and later answered questions on her top picks from the 2024 programme.
Festival staff were also on hand to give out real brochures, some of which included a coveted ‘yellow ticket’ that gave lucky winners a chance for an all-expenses-paid opening weekend package to the festival.
