Barbican: Brutal Beauty
As one of London’s leading culture venues, the Barbican is known for cutting-edge programming that’s right at home within the building’s Brutalist architecture. Having had to close through multiple lockdowns during the COVID-19 pandemic, the Barbican’s May 2021 reopening with exhibition Brutal Beauty was more than long-awaited.
A retrospective of eminent painter Jean Dubuffet, a French artist at the forefront of the post-war art world, Brutal Beauty is centred around the artist’s work – known for grit and authenticity – while incorporating pieces from his Art Brut collection. To take Dubuffet’s art to the streets, we teamed up with Target Live for a street poster campaign that echoed the characteristically contemporary style the Barbican is known for, on sites in Islington, Hackney, Wandsworth and beyond.
