Lisette May Monroe x Glasgow International 2026
Glasgow International, Scotland’s biennial of contemporary art returned this June, presenting the work of artists and arts organisers at venues across the city, platforming inclusion, solidarity, collective action and community-led activism.
BUILDHOLLYWOOD Scotland once again collaborated with some of the artists involved in the festival – taking their work out of the venues and onto the city’s streets.
To coincide with her exhibition Hard Lines at Gulabi Photo, artist Lisette May Monroe transported works out of the installation, and accompanying publication, onto poster and billboard sites across Glasgow. Using sentimentality, nostalgia and revenge, the work navigates the aftermath of an abandoned relationship, while questioning what it means to inhabit a body stigmatised by the overhanging spectres of class, disability and menopause.
