Tate: Nigerian Modernism
Nigerian Modernism shines a spotlight on the vibrant creativity of artists around Nigeria’s 1960 independence, weaving connections between cities like Zaria, Lagos, and Enugu and art hubs across Europe. Collectives such as the Zaria Art Society and Mbari Club fused local traditions with international influences, producing bold painting, sculpture, textiles, and poetry. Featuring artists like Uzo Egonu, El Anatsui, Ladi Kwali, and Ben Enwonwu MBE, the exhibition pulses with energy and innovation.
JACK ARTS teamed up with Posterscope and brought these vivid works to life across London, translating their striking colours into eye-catching takeover billboards.
