Talbot Rice Gallery: The Recent

The public art gallery of the University of Edinburgh, Talbot Rice Gallery ‘positions itself at the forefront of research and creative practice’. The gallery’s newest exhibition The Recent features 11 artists’ visions of human existence on our planet and, through painting, film, sculpture and photography, connects ‘the emotional anxiety of the present with the need to stretch the human imagination into a deeper timeframe.’

Celebrating the exhibition’s opening, we worked with the gallery on a street poster campaign that spotlighted Regina de Miguel’s delicate but colourful watercolour Abrazo Simbionte on the streets of Edinburgh. Inspired by the theories of biologist Lynn Margulis, the work explores ‘the interrelatedness of all organic and nonorganic matter’ in our world and was sure to encourage passers-by to find out more.
