DIABOLICAL Music Icons: 1996 / 2026
For 30 years, DIABOLICAL has been putting music on the streets – bringing iconic releases, artists and ideas, and helping shape how music shows up in our cities. To mark the occasion, we brought together some of the people who’ve been part of that story for one night at our space, Hackney Furniture.
The space was given a proper trip through the decades, with archival posters covering the walls, red vinyl wrapping the windows, and a 90s-inspired living room nodding back to another era of music culture. On the decks, Bradley Zero headlined, with Selassie TBC opening up and George Riley performing live, while Only Jerkin’ kept everyone fed and the drinks kept coming.
It was a night to celebrate 30 years of DIABOLICAL, but really, it was about the people behind it – friends, collaborators and clients who’ve helped make the last three decades what they are.
And there’s more to come. A new series with Emma Warren – writer, researcher and chronicler of culture – continues the conversation around music and the street, from discovery and promotion to album artwork and the visual language that’s left its mark on our cities. The first feature lands later this month.
