The National Gallery: Radical Harmony
The National Gallery’s Radical Harmony exhibition brings together masterpieces by Seurat, Van Gogh, Signac, Pissarro, and other leading Neo-Impressionist artists. It delves into how their pioneering technique of painting with dots of pure colour, known as pointillism, revolutionised art by merging science, light, and emotion. Once viewed as radical and even a challenge to traditional painting, the movement reshaped how colour and form could create harmony and depth on canvas.
Playing on the exhibition’s themes of perspective and contrast captured in the title Radical Harmony, JACK ARTS teamed up with Posterscope to bring the concept to life on the streets with a 3D lenticular billboard. This dynamic installation allowed passersby to see shifting visuals and messages depending on their viewing angle, echoing the Neo-Impressionists’ exploration of perception.
