Celebrating 150 years of Scottish Football with stadium mural

Scottish Gas, title partner of the men’s and women’s Scottish Cup, joins forces with the SFA and JACK ARTS Scotland to celebrate 150 years of Scottish Football, with a carbon-absorbing mural at the entrance of the iconic Hampden Park.

Glasgow-based artist Molly Hankinson, who we previously worked with for Your Space Or Mine, was tasked to bring some of the football communities favourite Scottish Cup moments to life at the entrance to Scotland’s national stadium, in her unique illustrative style:

‘What an honour to pay tribute to these top moments in Scottish Cup History from both the mens and the women’s sides. A highlight for me was getting to represent Rose Reilly who is such a huge part of women’s football history. Our local pub is named after her! Huge thanks to Hana at Sure Signs who assisted me with install. As local artists it’s an incredible moment when you are asked to paint Scotland’s National Stadium.’

The large-scale site-specific mural, in collaboration with Fuse (part of the Omnicom Media Group) has been unveiled on the eve of Final’s weekend. The design captures players in celebration; a bold colour pallet in carbon absorbing paint brings the space to life, encapsulating the power and passion behind the game whilst radiating positive (air-purifying) vibes ahead of the most anticipated games of the season.
