Birmingham Hippodrome: Peaky Blinders

2023 has seen Cillian Murphy as the star of Christopher Nolan’s Oppenheimer, but he’s long been beloved in Birmingham for helping to put the city on the world map. Starring in long-running period gangster drama Peaky Blinders as the loveable but morally dubious Tommy Shelby, Murphy’s flat-capped look is nothing short of iconic in the Midlands. 
 
To celebrate Rambert’s Peaky Blinders arriving at Birmingham Hippodrome, we teamed up with the theatre for a creative billboard that would loom over the streets of Digbeth, reminding the city who’s really boss. With a huge model of its leading dancer and a tagline reading ‘Tommy Shelby conquers Birmingham all over again’, we reckon it did the trick.
