Refugee Week 2025: Association of Ukrainians in Great Britain

For this year’s Refugee Week JACK ARTS Scotland partnered with the Association of Ukrainians in Great Britain (AUGB) to platform the voices of their young people on a takeover site in Edinburgh alongside the famous Ukrainian poem My Testament by Taras Shevchenko: ‘When I am dead, bury me in my beloved Ukraine…’.

The takeover presented their paintings of hope and unity from Europe Day, created in a workshop with Mission of Innocents – a charity supporting children displaced from their homes due to war, political or economic instability, and environmental disasters.

The partnership culminated in a very special gathering at the takeover site, bringing the young people, members of AUGB and the Ukrainian Consulate together to celebrate their community and its resilience.
