Glasgow School of Arts: Hock-Aun Teh

Born in what is now western Malaysia, Hock-Aun Teh studied at the Tan Guan-Hin Chinese Painting School from 1966-1970 before moving to Scotland to study at The Glasgow School of Art’s Drawing and Painting Department from 1970-1974. With his early training concentrated on Chinese ink painting, Teh’s work came to be shaped by a unique combination of immediate influences – leading to the ‘colourful, gestural abstracts’ he’s now known for.

To showcase Hock-Aun Teh’s truly beautiful body of work, a curated collection of pieces was selected for display at the Glasgow School of Art’s Reid Gallery – titled ‘Expanding Traditions’. We teamed up with the GSA to spotlight its exhibition with a street poster campaign across the city, optimising on our 8-sheet formats to provide a sneak peek at the featured pieces.
