Eastside Projects: Digbeth
Eastside Projects, in collaboration with Grand Union, is developing a Cultural Action Plan for Digbeth as part of a wider cultural placemaking programme. The plan emerges from a collective process that recognises Digbeth’s cultural growth since the late 1980s, responds to concerns around large-scale developments, and identifies opportunities for collaboration to ensure a resilient, thriving cultural future. Local people have helped shape this vision through workshops, an online survey, and detailed stakeholder interviews, contributing to the development of Companion Culture – Four Actions for Digbeth.
These four actions – Be Good Neighbours, Secure Cultural Space, Be a Lighthouse and Be Inclusive were brought to life through a partnership between Eastside Projects and JACK ARTS, who showcased them across Digbeth in a street takeover and large 48-sheet displays, uniting the community around their shared goals.
