Do The Green Thing: The Colour of the Climate Crisis
Do The Green Thing was created as an environmental social initiative that uses creativity to tackle the climate crisis – as “art has always helped us to interpret the world and get closer to its truths.” This resulted in the exhibition The Colour of the Climate Crisis, a curated selection of works that highlight the related inequalities of the climate breakdown and racial injustice.
With work by 24 Black creatives and artists of colour, the exhibition underlines that those who are most affected by the climate breakdown, yet are least at fault, are people of colour. As The Colour of the Climate Crisis landed in Glasgow’s The Pipe Factory to coincide with COP26, we worked with Do The Green Thing to bring its dual purposes of poignant art and much-needed awareness to the heart of the city.
With artwork that sought to centre the leadership, ideas and experiences of people of colour on the frontlines of the crisis, the street poster campaign presented impactful excerpts from the exhibition and showcased its intentions, providing the perfect backdrop to climate demonstrations and protests parading through the city.
