Books Are My Bag: Bookshop Day in Cardiff

Each year, Bookshop Day pays tribute to purveyors of the printed word – both independent booksellers and Blackwells, Waterstones, and Foyles – that play an essential part in the development and sustenance of the UK’s thriving literary culture.

As this year’s celebrations saw Books Are My Bag focusing on the Welsh capital of Cardiff, we worked with them on a duo of murals on our sites in the city: a drum mural in Canton, and a landscape piece on Caroline Street in the city centre.

Working with local artists – Sophie Potter and Jack Skivens – who designed and painted each piece, the artworks commemorated local stalwart stores like not-for-profit Shelf Life Cardiff in both Welsh and English. It was the perfect way to bring the love of literature to the street, and it translated onto social media too – appearing right across Books Are My Bag’s Instagram and Twitter accounts.
