Sheffield Inspires
Sheffield has always been a city of creativity, resilience, and innovation. From its industrial past to its vibrant cultural present, it has consistently inspired those who live, work, and create here. Now, a new creative commission and campaign, Sheffield Inspires, from Sheffield City Council is reimagining how we tell that story to the world.
Forget the standard drone shots of city skylines. Sheffield Inspires is about going deeper, uncovering the essence of what makes the city truly remarkable. It’s not just about what Sheffield looks like-it’s about what it makes you feel. It’s about the ideas, people, and movements born here that have left a lasting mark far beyond the city’s borders – from football and climbing to beer and electronic music, Sheffield inspires, always has, always will.
To bring this vision to life, Marketing Sheffield have teamed up with some of the city’s most talented creatives, artist Rob Lee, animator Andrew Robinson (Studio AW-AR), and musician Evan Majumdar-Swift (96 Back) to craft an immersive new way of showcasing Sheffield – culminating in an animated arts commission, collection of images and stories, and a city-wide street poster launch in partnership with JACK ARTS; the poster campaign brings each of the campaigns seven inspirational elements of Sheffield to life, with site specific display to amplify their impacts. ‘The craft of beer’ went on the side of the well loved Washington Pub, for example; ‘greener cities’ went by the flagship Castlegate grey to green site; and ‘the beautiful game’ went across the road from Sheffield United’s Bramall Lane stadium. Developed in collaboration with key partners, including academic institutions, leading organisations, and industry pioneers the campaign presents a cohesive narrative that highlights Sheffield’s global impact.
