EAF: Rosie’s Disobedient Press
EAF (Edinburgh Art Festival) is the UK’s largest annual festival of visual art, bringing the capital’s galleries, museums and artist-run spaces together to present a programme of internationally renowned work each August, alongside a series of new commissions.
As well as delivering their colourful poster campaign across Edinburgh, Dundee and Glasgow, JACK ARTS Scotland partnered with EAF on their 20th birthday year to bring the work of Rosie’s Disobedient Press out onto the city streets, as a continuation of our support of the artist-led publishers which started during Glasgow International 2024. The work, a collaborative project by artists Lisette May Monroe and Adrien Howard, reflected on the landscape of the city over the past 20 years, working with archives and local organisations to look at language as a historical act of resistance.
Alongside our city-wide display, Rosie’s presented work in print, on clothing, across windows, and at City Art Centre, where our posters were taken out of the street setting and presented on the gallery’s walls.
