August in the Festival City

Visit Edinburgh at any time of the year and you’ll experience world-class performances, exhibitions and events thanks to its annual programme of cultural festivals. The festival city’s extensive offering reaches a crescendo in August when the world’s largest art festival the Fringe is hosted, alongside a collection of internationally celebrated creative festivals, making it a unique time to experience the city.

Throughout the summer JACK ARTS Scotland brings these festivals to life on the streets of Edinburgh and Glasgow; our poster, billboard and drum sites are a cultural noticeboard of campaigns from the Book, Film, International and Politics festivals. We partnered with the Art Festival, for their 20th birthday celebration, showcasing work from Rosie’s Disobedient Press across the city, as well as their own colourful campaign posters. The icing on the cultural cake was to once again partner with the Festival Fringe Society to highlight their community programmes and access resources – including community ticketing and sensory tools to make the festival season accessible to all.
