Argylle: Bookshop Installation
The identity of the mysterious spy novelist Elly Conway was recently unmasked as a collaboration between the Australian novelist and screenwriter Terry Hayes and British author of psychological thrillers Tammy Cohen. Their joint debut novel Argylle created as much intrigue in the pages as out – the plot centres around Frances Coffey, a legendary CIA spymaster, and Argylle, a spy whose past is as enigmatic as his missions. In a captivating story that accompanied a star-studded film release, the publication’s launch campaign had to be something special.
We created an exclusive exhibition on the 5th floor of Foyles in London with Penguin, bringing the Argylle Bookshop to life, paired with themed window display to intrigue the passing public on Charing Cross Road. The installation included handmade diamond bookshelves, giant book build, decorative floor vinyl, display stands and a bespoke pattern backdrop that mirrored designs from scenes in the film. Our creative studio had the pleasure of working on this brief from the very start, using the book cover as inspiration, our in-house designers mocked up the space to create an immersive experience to give the novel the focus it deserves. The bookshop within a bookshop welcomed their first customers, the film actors, who did a surprise book signing, bridging the gap between the pages and the silver screen with an impactful bookshop installation to fully display our creative capabilities.
