Supersonic Festival

Marking its twentieth year in Birmingham, ‘the mother of British underground festivals’ is back. Starting as a one-day event in 2003, Supersonic has become one of the world’s most-renowned celebrations of experimental music and the arts, welcoming ‘the most artistically relevant and irreverent acts’ from the UK and beyond to the heart of the city every year, as well as an ambitious accompanying programme of talks, workshops and screenings.

Working with the team at Capsule, we brought this year’s eclectic line up – featuring homegrown heroes Godflesh, Zambian-Canadian rapper Backxwash, Irish folk quartet Lankum, the legendary Deerhoof and many more – to the streets of Birmingham. Supersonic’s bold, black-and-white, multi-format poster campaign (with splashes of red and graphic nods to David Lynch’s Black Lodge) took over sites across the creative hubs of Digbeth and King’s Heath, inspiring curiosity for audiences old and new.
