Bees: A Story of Survival
National Museum Liverpool opens its doors to their new immersive exhibition; combining contemporary art with the intricacies of science to explore one of nature’s most fascinating creatures – the bee. In a collaboration between the World Museum, bee communication expert Professor Martin Bencsik and the artist Wolfgang Buttress, the exhibition is as detailed as the macro photography featured in the poster campaign. Bringing the world of bees to life through sculpture, art, projection and soundscape, the show aims to educate and inspire visitors to protect these intricate and resilient creatures and their habitats.
With AKA we took the exhibition’s ambitions directly to streets the with an immersive campaign that encouraged the passing public to create a bee-friendly future; Roscoe Street Liverpool and Oxford Road Manchester’s busy street-level sites were the perfect spots for the bee-friendly activations. The takeover poster sites were hand-embellished with tear-away seed pouches, made from sustainable printed fabric pouches. The iridescent display encouraged people to engage with the space, take the seed packs away and plant at home – bringing the campaign, and exhibition’s, ‘save the bees’ appeal to life.
