The Making of Another Motion Picture Masterpiece: Tom Hanks

Tom Hanks is one of the world’s most beloved actors, but also now a budding author. Spanning 80 years that culminate in the opening of a film, Hanks’ debut novel The Making of Another Motion Picture Masterpiece is an ambitious story that offers an inside-take on filmmaking and a reflection of America’s past and present. It has been lauded by critics and celebrities alike, with Richard Osman calling it, “affectionate and endlessly entertaining.” 

We created a blockbuster launch for the novel at Waterstones Piccadilly with Penguin Random House. Celebrating the wonder of classic cinema, a hand-painted vintage box office was placed at the store’s entrance, with two cinema ushers handing out popcorn to customers on their way in. Our installation was paired with a creative billboard at Finsbury Park covered in gold foiled cinema tickers, which passers-by could tear off and exchange in-store for a free copy of the book.
