The Mosaic Rooms: Love Poem for City Dreamers

Contemplating the pressures of passing time and melancholy of experiences unrealised, Love Poem for City Dreamers is Basim Magdy’s public artwork created in collaboration with designer Marwan Kaabour. Featuring a warm-toned cityscape overlaid with Magdy’s evocative words, the piece is a new commission and part of The Mosaic Rooms’ exhibition Constellations of Multiple Wishes, which hosts more of Magdy’s pieces alongside works that look at entangled recent histories ‘laced with poetic intervention’.

Taking over one of our Mile End sites, The Mosaic Rooms’ commission is a prime example of how to stir up feeling through street posters. The non-profit art gallery is dedicated to supporting and promoting contemporary culture from the Arab world and beyond. Bringing Magdy’s work onto the street takes their work further through the city, beyond the reaches of gallery walls.
